120000 Challenger I

The British Challenger 1 was the United Kingdom’s first main battle tank to fully incorporate Chobham composite armor, representing a significant leap in crew protection during the late Cold War. Entering service in the early 1980s, it was armed with the proven 120 mm L11A5 rifled gun, providing excellent long-range accuracy and compatibility with a wide range of NATO ammunition. Powered by a Rolls-Royce CV12 diesel engine, Challenger 1 offered solid mobility for its weight class, though it emphasized survivability and firepower over outright speed. The tank saw its most notable combat use during the 1991 Gulf War, where it achieved exceptional kill ratios without suffering combat losses, cementing its reputation as a durable and highly effective armored platform.
