The BTR-60PB was a major evolution of the Soviet eight-wheeled armored personnel carrier family, introduced in the mid-1960s to give motorized rifle units better protection and combat capability. Featuring a fully enclosed, amphibious hull and a distinct conical turret armed with a 14.5 mm KPVT heavy machine gun paired with a 7.62 mm PKT, the PB offered significantly improved firepower over earlier open-top variants. Its twin-engine layout, while mechanically complex, provided good mobility across rough terrain and water obstacles. Widely fielded throughout the Warsaw Pact and exported globally, the BTR-60PB became one of the defining wheeled APCs of the Cold War.
